Convert A Joomla or HTML Site Into WordPress
There are a number of reasons why you would want to convert a Joomla or html site into WordPress. While you may be doing fine on, at some point you will probably realize that your site could certainly do better. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with Joomla or HTML, it is that WordPress is more often the better choice.
That being said, it is hardly surprising to find that it is the most popular CMS out there. Without a doubt, making the move from html to WordPress is the right thing to do. After all, WordPress is known to be the most comprehensive platform. This is best seen in the wide array of choices in terms of plugins and themes. No matter which niche you belong to, you will surely find the features you need on WordPress.
We’ll try to touch on the specifics of how these processes are done so that you have a better idea of what we can do for you.
Convert Joomla to WordPress
First, we’ll install the Joomla to the WordPress Plugin. In order to do this, one will only need to go to the dashboard and find the Plugins tab. Then click on Add New. By typing in FG Joomla to WordPress at the search bar, you’ll be able to find the plugin we need. Upon clicking on the FG Joomla to WordPress, you will notice a window appear showing additional details regarding the plugin, click Install Now.
After that is done, you will be sent back to plugin list. You’ll probably notice that the list will be more or less empty aside from the basic WordPress plugins and the one we just installed. This means that we will have to go back to Joomla and retrieve all your data so that we can proceed with the conversion process.
Once that is done, we shall be moving on to the next step. Namely, you will need to extract your site’s Joomla database parameters. This means going to the Joomla control panel and getting a copy of your host, database tables prefix values, database name, and database username among other things. All of which are vital to effectively converting your site to the new CMS.
Upon finishing that, we will be ready to proceed with the actual conversion. The most important part of this process would be importing your content from Joomla to WordPress. While there are a number of different import tools available on WordPress, Joomla has none. That is why we had to go through the process of installing the plugin beforehand. You can make use of the Import option tool on WordPress. This will hasten the entire process of transferring all your files from one platform to another.
However, when it comes to media, we highly recommend that you skip it. This is because migrating that kind of data can take up a lot of time and we want to get it over with as quickly as possible. It should be noted that we can upload the images manually at a later time anyway. While that may seem burdensome, it is ultimately the smarter choice as it cuts down the risk of any problems during the migration phase.
Once everything has been transferred we can proceed with the final step which is modifying your site’s Internal Links. After the file migration, everything but your internal links will be in working order. At this point, everything will be jumbled up. Fixing the links is a necessary step if you want to ensure that your users are able to easily navigate your site.
The process is actually rather straightforward. It can be broken down into a few simple steps. However, we highly recommend that you let the professionals do their job. This way, you can be sure to get only the highest quality results. After all, you are making the switch to WordPress to make your site better.
